Chapter 9 and 10: mini saga

All things are coming to an end: Pete and Joe got rassist, thereby the band hasn't got any success, Dani and Alex left the band and at least Alex Australian trip ended. Dani moved with him to England and celebrated New Year's Eve with Alex family. They built a new band named The Dolphins.

Chapter 8: Up to the top...

In my opinion is the most interesting part is it when Alex and Dani were watching the dolphins. As far as I'm concerned this little sentence:
They are free. We are not.
shows that Alex got to know what it is all about to be famous.
I was fun to read this part, because it was written very nice and emotional.

What do you think about? Do you agree with me? Can you understand the way I see it?

Chapter 7: father and son

1. Comment on the following quote: "And, of course, Alex understood only too well." (p.43, l.33)

2. Write a different ending of the chapter: "That night, when Alex had gone to sleep, TOM picked up his diary and began writing." (compare p.43, l.34f)

1. I think this sentences show us that Alex really start beginning to understand him... The time before Alex was always very unsure about trusting his father. But in the seventh chapter he made his opinion... As far as I'm concerned Alex will never consider Tom as his real father sooner as a good friend he has found.

Friday , 8 February

This was a wonderful day! I had been getting closer to Alex. I hope he understood me a bit and I think so. I really felt scared about the moment he asked me - Why did you leave me?- . I hoped for so long time, that I wont spoil my answer...

I'm really feel sorry, that I did this mistake, and let Alex grew up fatherless.

I'm so happy that Alex came to see me and gave me a chance to explain what happened as he was three.

Chapter 6: Into the rain forest

Task: Before you read the 6th chapter predict what Alex tells Tom when he meets him for the first time after 16 years.

In my opinion Alex won't be sure what he can say or what he can do. Maybe he will stutter or interrupt the whole time his sentences. Probably Tom will do the first step and say sorry for all the years, for all the mistakes he has done. Then Alex will ask his questions, for that he searchs the aswers for years. I think when Alex isn't anymore so shy, he will flare up, speak louder and maybe reproach his father his suffernigs.

Task 2: After you read the 6th chapter: What did Alex say? Where you right? Give evidence from the text!

I was right, when I said that Alex is very unsure about what to talk (look p. 31/ l. 12: he didn't know how he can say: Dad, Tom or better Mr. Connell? +l.15: ...whispered...). I was wrong, when I said that Alex will ask a lot of questions, but I tell the truth when I predict that Alex flare up and get to speak louder (p. 31/l. 23: ... he shouted...) and I was right when I thought that Alex will reproach his father his sufferings (look p.32/l.1: ... my father abandoned me when I was three years old...!)

Chapter 5: The face in the crowd

1. What do you think? Alex is very shocked andsuprised as he saw his father Tom, standing in the audience. Is he happy about that or would he prefer to meet him alone and announced? How will he react? How would you react?

2.Will Dani or Alex tell the band about their relationship? Or did they do this already? If no, why? Is it embarassing for them? What's your opinion?

3. Do you agree with Joe? Would you hush up the accident with the cow? Or would you call the police, but miss thereby the act at Sabrina's ?

Chapter 4: The big decision

Task: Dani and Alex have their first disagreement.
Why?
What is it about?
What is your opinion about it?

I think the disagreement of Dani and Alex isn't very important. It goes only about 9 lines...
The row was only a missunderstanding.
Alex thought that Dani is criticizing his dreams, but it was wrong, Dani wouldn't do something like that (look page 24, line 23).
In my opinion a little disagreement, for excample, will happens more often. It normal, when you spend so much time together.

Chapter 3: The island and the mountain

In this chapter Alex was invited to visit Kevin, who is his age and live in the south of Australia.

They camped at the Kangaroo Island. I think it was very excited for Alex, who has never seen kangaroos or koalas before.

At the second day Alex and Kevin droved to North Australia, to Mary's Peak, for climbing on it.

The walk taked over 4 hours. On the top, they sat down, and Kevin told about his experiences with his uncle Tom at this place. It was a nice day for Alex, but it ended with a tearsful thought about Tom.

In my opinion Alex mean with the sentences Let him see how he likes it, how Tom will feel when Alex isn't at home. Will he be disappionted like Alex? Or doesn't it matter for him?
